History

Lamb-Young Funeral Home has been serving Gibson City area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

The Lamb Funeral Home was founded in 1887, by founder W.S. Lamb. The original funeral home was part of the W.S. Lamb & Co. furniture store. The south rooms in the same building were made into a funeral home. W. S. Lamb II (Shumway) entered the funeral business in 1912 after obtaining his license as a funeral director. After the death of W.S. Lamb, in 1918, his son became the successor. On March 1, 1937 the new modern funeral home was built on the historical site of the S.J. Lefevre home at corner of North Church Street. In 1980 it became Lamb Young Funeral Home owned by Earl Young.

Since the beginning it has been family owned and operated funeral home, dedicated to exceptional service in the area. It is a recipient of the Order of the Golden Rule which is given to independently owned and operated funeral homes.
